Mariya is the Principal Investigator and founder of the lab. She has a passion for studying viral and bacterial pathogenesis. Outside of the lab, Mariya is an avid baker and has a menagerie of pets - two cats (Logan and Nebula) and a Bernadoodle (Storm). ​​​

Megan is a graduate student in the Goncheva lab working on a project focused on how the changes in phosphatidylinositol levels alter flu infectivity. She loves to highland dance or craft, but most importantly, she is always ready to attend a farmers market!

Karen is a graduate student in the lab who previously completed her Honours project and worked as a research assistant in the Goncheva lab. When not in the lab, she enjoys skiing, rock climbing, playing classical piano, and spending time with her dog, Honey. ​

Ellie is an undergraduate student in her final year of biochemistry. She joined the lab for a summer work term and is staying to complete her Honours project. When she is not in the lab, she can be found tending her garden, doing karate, or hiking.

Lily is a fourth-year microbiology student who has come back to the lab this year to complete her Honours. Outside of the lab she can be found swimming, or adventuring somewhere on the island.

Talia is a fourth-year Biochemistry student who has returned to the lab to conduct her honours project. When she’s not studying or working in the lab, she enjoys crocheting, reading, baking, exploring the island, and finding new coffee shops to try.
